At a glance
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic, especially strong at natural writing, long document analysis and coding. You use it conversationally on the web, desktop and mobile apps, and paid plans also include Claude Code, a coding agent for the terminal, a browser extension (Claude in Chrome), and document, slide and design creation. It suits a wide range of users, from students asking casual questions to office workers and developers who work with documents and code every day, up to team-wide rollouts.

Which plan for whom
- Free: Students and general users who only ask the occasional question or polish and summarize text. Sonnet 5.5 alone is enough for everyday use.
- Pro: Office workers who use AI for work every day, graduate students with many reports and papers, and developers who want a taste of Claude Code. The cheapest way to use Opus 5.5.
- Max 5x: People who often hit the Pro limit, and professionals who do a lot of long documents and research or need Fable often.
- Max 20x: Developers who build with Claude Code all day, and solo founders who run several agent tasks at once.
- Team Standard: Startups and companies where a team of 2 or more shares projects and materials and needs admin features and SSO.
- Team Premium: Efficient if assigned selectively only to team members who do heavy coding and analysis.
- Enterprise: Large companies with security and compliance needs, and regulated industries such as finance and healthcare. You pay for what you use, so it fits organizations with widely varying usage.
