Service ended: CLOVA X ended its service on April 9, 2026 (the search AI 'Cue:' ended the same day). Conversation history was deleted after the end and cannot be recovered. NAVER's generative AI is now offered through the 'AI tab' and 'AI Briefing' in NAVER Search, a shopping AI agent and more.

At a glance

CLOVA X was a Korean-specialized conversational AI chatbot that NAVER built on its own very large language model, HyperCLOVA X. It launched in beta in August 2023 and ended on April 9, 2026, about 2 years and 8 months later. NAVER changed direction to a 'vertical AI agent' strategy of putting AI inside existing services such as search, shopping and reservations instead of a standalone chatbot. To use NAVER AI now, use the AI tab in NAVER Search (officially launched for all users on June 26, 2026), or, if you are a developer, the HyperCLOVA X API in NAVER Cloud's CLOVA Studio.

Which plan for whom

CLOVA X free: The service has ended, so new use is not possible. If you need a general-purpose Korean chatbot, we recommend ChatGPT, Gemini, Wrtn and the like, and Perplexity if you need search with sources.
NAVER AI tab / AI Briefing: People who want to find restaurants, travel and shopping on NAVER and go straight to booking and buying. Strong on Korean local information.
CLOVA Studio (API): Developers at companies and public institutions for whom Korean-language performance and domestic data processing (sovereign AI) matter.
