At a glance
DeepL is an AI translation service made by DeepL SE of Germany, known for natural, context-aware translation and for translating whole document files such as Word, PDF and PPT. It is widely used, from individuals who often read foreign-language materials to companies where translation quality and security matter.

- The official pricing page shows only euros depending on access region (Germany basis), so we could not confirm official USD prices directly. USD prices are based on third-party sources (checked August 2026), and annual billing gives a discount of up to about 16%. The official page shows only annual billing prices (EUR) and no monthly billing amounts. So the 'personal paid starting price (USD/month)' of $10.40 in the DB is an outside source value (rechecked 2026-10-12). The official Korean won price was also not confirmed.
- In June 2026, the personal plans were reorganized from Starter / Advanced / Ultimate to Individual / Team / Business / Enterprise.
- The former API Free/API Pro stopped accepting new sign-ups.
Which plan for whom
- Free: People who occasionally translate an email or a few paragraphs of an article. 50,000 characters per month and 1 file is enough for light use.
- Individual: Office workers, graduate students and freelancers who often translate papers, reports and contracts. 300,000 characters per month, 3 files and whole-page web translation are practical.
- Team: Overseas sales and marketing teams that need to align glossaries and style rules among members.
- Business: Companies with heavy translation volume that want to use it without worrying about character counts, and organizations that want to manage consistency with translation memory.
- Enterprise: Large finance, legal and manufacturing companies with demanding security requirements (BYOK, high availability).
- Write Pro: People whose main goal is polishing English writing rather than translation. For when you want to solve it in the DeepL ecosystem instead of Grammarly.
- Developer API: For developers testing a translation feature in an app (no refill after the total 1,000,000 characters are used up).
- Growth API / Enterprise API: Development companies that actually build translation into a service and use it steadily every month.
